Terms of Service
These terms are an agreement between you and [Company legal name] ("Kallos", "we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales under number [company number], whose registered office is [registered address].
If you are under 16, a parent or guardian must confirm your account before you can use Kallos, and these terms apply to them as well as to you.
1. What Kallos is
Kallos provides one-to-one online tuition for GCSE and A-Level students. Kallos sells the tuition. The tutors who teach on Kallos are independent contractors engaged by us; your agreement for lessons is with Kallos, not with an individual tutor.
We match each student with a tutor ourselves, based on what you tell us when you sign up. You can ask for a particular tutor, and we will take that into account, but the allocation is ours to make.
2. Accounts
- Every student has their own login, whatever their age. Parents and guardians have their own accounts, linked to their children.
- You must be at least 13 to have a student account.
- You must give accurate information, including your date of birth. You can't change your date of birth yourself once it is set; contact us if it is wrong.
- Keep your password to yourself. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
3. Free trial
A new student can have a free one-hour trial lesson with the tutor we allocate. Each student can have up to two free trials. We don't ask for card details for a trial.
After a trial you'll be asked whether you want to continue with that tutor. If you don't, we'll talk to you about finding a better match.
4. Prices and paying
- Lesson prices are set per level and are the same for every student at that level, whichever tutor teaches you. Current prices are shown when you book.
- You can pay for a lesson by card, or from wallet credit. Credit packages give you more credit than you pay for — for example, paying £270 might give you £300 of credit.
- The price of a lesson is fixed when you book it. If we change our prices, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before the change, and lessons you have already booked keep their original price.
- Card payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
5. Cancelling and rescheduling
| When you cancel | What you get back |
|---|---|
| 24 hours or more before the lesson | The full price |
| Less than 24 hours before the lesson | Half the price |
| If your tutor or Kallos cancels | The full price, always |
- Refunds go back the way you paid: a card payment is refunded to the card (this usually takes 5–10 days), and a wallet payment is refunded to your wallet straight away.
- You can reschedule a lesson for free, up to twice. If you move a lesson when it is less than 24 hours away, a later cancellation of that lesson is treated as a late cancellation, however far away the new time is.
- If a student doesn't turn up to a lesson, it counts as delivered and is not refunded, and we will let the student's parent or guardian know.
- If a tutor doesn't turn up, you get a full refund.
6. Credit packages and refunds
Wallet credit is for lessons. Unspent credit from a package can be refunded on request: we refund the cash you paid for the part of the credit you haven't used, at the rate you bought it. We can't refund credit that has already been spent, and the extra credit a package gives you is not refundable as cash.
7. Lessons, recordings and messages
- Lessons take place in our online lesson room.
- Lessons with a student under 18 are recorded by default. The Privacy Policy explains exactly who can watch a recording and for how long.
- A Kallos administrator may join any lesson, for quality and safeguarding. They will always be visible in the room — we never join covertly.
- Messages between a student and their tutor can be read by the student's parents or guardians, and by Kallos staff. Parents can read their child's conversations but can't post in them.
8. Behaviour
Everyone using Kallos must follow the Code of Conduct. We may suspend or close an account that breaks it, and we will act on any safeguarding concern under our Safeguarding Policy.
9. Closing your account
You can ask us to close your account at any time. Before we close it we will refund any wallet credit you are owed. Some records, such as lesson history and messages, are kept in anonymised form where we need them for safeguarding or legal reasons — the Privacy Policy explains what and for how long.
10. Our responsibility to you
We will provide lessons with reasonable care and skill. We can't guarantee exam results. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under UK law, or our liability for anything that can't be limited by law.
11. Complaints
Tell us first, at hello@kallostutoring.co.uk, and we'll try to put it right. If you're not satisfied, you may be able to use an alternative dispute resolution service.
12. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell you and ask you to agree to the new version.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
